NOTICE OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

TOWN OF GRISWOLD

TO BE HELD ON APRIL 28, 2015

 

              Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Town of Griswold and those qualified taxpayers lawfully entitled to vote in Griswold Town Meetings pursuant to Section 7-6 of the Connecticut General Statutes that a Special Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 5:00 P.M., at the Griswold Town Hall, 28 Main Street, Jewett City, CT 06351, for the following purpose:

 

                           

                            Should the Town of Griswold adopt an ordinance expanding the number of members of the Town of Griswold Board of Selectmen from three (3) to five (5) commencing with the next regular election? 

 

Notice is further given that, pursuant to C.G.S. § 7-7, the Board of Selectmen voted on April 10, 2015 to remove the aforementioned question from the call of the Special Town Meeting on April 28, 2015 and to submit the question to a town-wide referendum vote on May 12, 2015.

 

             

Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for review at the Griswold Town Hall, Office of the Town Clerk, 28 Main St., Jewett City, CT 06351

NOTICE OF ADJOURNED SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

AND referendum

TO BE HELD ON

 

TUESDAY

MAY 12, 2015

6 AM to 8 PM

 

              Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Town of Griswold and those qualified taxpayers lawfully entitled to vote in Griswold Town Meetings pursuant to Section 7-6 of the Connecticut General Statutes that an adjourned Special Town Meeting by Referendum Vote will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, to vote on the following question:

 

"Shall the Town of Griswold adopt an ordinance expanding the number of members of the Town of Griswold Board of Selectmen from three (3) to five (5) commencing with the next regular election?”  YES/NO

 

              The voting will be by optical scan voting machine. Those desiring to vote for the

question shall select "YES" on the ballot. Those desiring to vote against the question shall select

"NO" on the ballot.  Absentee ballots will be made available in accordance with law.

 

              The vote on the aforesaid resolution will be taken under the authority of Section 7-7 and Chapter 90 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended.

 

              The polls will be open during the hours between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. and electors shall cast their votes at:

 

District No. 1:  Griswold Town Hall, 28 Main Street, Jewett City (Griswold), Connecticut.

 

District No.2: Griswold Volunteer Fire Department, 883 Voluntown Rd., Griswold, Connecticut.

 

              Property owners who are not electors but are Qualified Voters pursuant to Section 7-6 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended, shall cast their votes at the above referenced voting district in which their property is located, providing a Qualified Voter may not vote in more than one district.  A Qualified Voter is any citizen eighteen years of age or more who, jointly or severally, is liable to the Town of Griswold for taxes assessed against him or her on an assessment of not less than One Thousand Dollars on the last completed grand list of the Town, or who would be so liable if not entitled to an exemption under subdivision (17), (19), (22), (23), (25) or (26) of Section 12-81 of the General Statutes.

The Town of Griswold Planning & Zoning Commission will conduct three Public Hearings in a Special Meeting on Monday, May 18, 2015 beginning at 6:30 p.m. to hear and consider:

 

6:30 p.m. ZC 01-15 (Revised) BOUNDARIES, LLC, 179 PACHAUG RIVER DRIVE, GRISWOLD. Requesting a Text Amendment change in the Griswold Subdivision Regulations to Section 5.3.3 to add new language for Commercial/Industrial cul-de-sac requirements to all for parcel design flexibility.

 

6:50 p.m. SE 02-15 H & M HOLDINGS, LLC, 2 and 4 BUSINESS PARK WAY, GRISWOLD. Requesting approval of a Special Exception to create a new development for automotive sales and service. Two lots are to be merged upon approval of this application. Property is zoned C-1.

 

6:55 p.m. SE 03-15 TILCON CONNECTICUT, INC., 43 SIBICKY ROAD & 176 RIXTOWN ROAD, GRISWOLD.  Requesting approval of a Special Exception for an earth products excavation and removal operation with all material taken from the site to be hauled to the processing plan of Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. located on adjacent real property at 176 Rixtown Road. Property is zoned R-80 and Industrial.

 

At these hearings, public and written comment may be received on the proposed applications. Materials may be reviewed in the Griswold Planning Department of the Griswold Town Hall, Monday-Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

LEGAL NOTICE AND REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

 

The Town of Griswold is seeking proposals from Commercial real estate brokers/firms to sell real property located within the corporate limits of Griswold. It is the intent of this Request for Proposal (RFP) to have the successful broker/firm, enter into a Professional Services Contract with the Town of Griswold to supply real estate services as outlined herein.

 

Complete specifications for the Request for Proposals are available at the First Selectman’s office, Griswold Town Hall, 28 Main St., Griswold, CT  06351 or at www.griswold-ct.org/RFPnotices.html.

The Town of Griswold is seeking bids for a pavement and sign management service program to help identify, inventory, map and organize in a database all roadway and sign assets owned and maintained by the Town and determine their current condition and obtain a tool to create the most efficient repair, maintenance and upgrade plans through an easy to maintain software program.
