The Griswold Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1947. This is a volunteer organization consisting of approximately 45 members trained in various levels of firefighting, emergency medical treatments and HAZMAT certifications. Griswold Volunteer Fire Department responds to over 400 calls each year. We respond with the Jewett City fire Department to all fires in the Town of Griswold including the Borough of Jewett City and are often called by surrounding towns for mutual aide. We are located in District 2 and we are responsible for everything East to Voluntown including I-395 North and south from the Lisbon line to Exit 87 in Plainfield. The Griswold Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for new members and will accept 16 through 18 year olds in our Cadet Program he fire house is located on Route 138, Voluntown Road, in the Pachaug section of Griswold. Training night is every Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM. Meeting night is every third Tuesday of each month at 8 PM. |
