MAIL, DROP BOX, APPOINTMENTS FOR CASH ONLY, AS WELL AS
OVER THE PHONE OR ONLINE at www.griswold-ct.org
(An additional fee is charged by the processing company for Credit and Debit Transactions,
as well as Electronic Checks Online Only)
The Following Taxes are Due January 1, 2021 and payable without interest by February 1, 2021:
1. Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes IN FULL
2. Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes SECOND HALF
Taxpayers who have been approved for the deferment program will have taxes due January 1, 2021 and payable without interest by April 1, 2021.
Mail postmarked (US Postal Service postmark only) on or before February 1, 2021 will be considered as having been paid on time.
Payments placed in the Town Hall drop box after 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2021 will be considered as having been made the following business day and will be deemed as paid late.
Delinquent Tax Date – February 2, 2021 with interest at 1.5% per month from January 1, 2021.
Deferment by Application Delinquent Tax Date – April 2, 2021 with interest at 1.5% per month from January 1, 2021. There is a minimum interest of $2.00. Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or penalties per CGSS 12-130.
Please make checks/money orders payable to Town of Griswold and mail payments to Town of Griswold, Tax Collector, 28 Main Street, P.O. Box 369, Jewett City, CT 06351. The tax office will be staffed Monday-Wednesday 8:30-4:00, Thursday 8:30-6:30 and Friday 8:30-1:00.

IMPORTANT - ONLINE PAYMENT INFORMATION
ATTENTION RESIDENTS – GRISWOLD AND JEWETT CITY
DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TOWN HALL IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC,
THE TAX OFFICE WILL ACCEPT PAYMENTS THROUGH THE FOLLOWING METHODS:
1. Drop box – Side of the building. Mark outside of envelopes Tax Office.
2. Regular mail.
3. Credit Card or Debit Card by phone or online at www.griswold-ct.org, click departments, click tax office,
click make your online tax payment here. (There is an additional fee for this feature charged by the
processing company whether by phone or online). All credit cards 2.5%, MasterCard Debit 2.5%, and
Visa Debit $3.95.
4. Electronic Check (ONLINE ONLY) for an additional fee of $2.00 (charged by the processing company).

Any questions concerning assessed value, adjustments, exemptions or credits, tax relief programs, and improper motor vehicle tax billings should be directed to the Assessors Office at (860) 376-7060 extension 2105 or 2103.
Questions about billing, tax balances due, amounts paid, delinquent taxes and interest charged should be directed to the Revenue Collector's Office.

TAX OFFICE POLICY
.ADMINISTRATIVE FEE – DELINQUENT MOTOR VEHICLES
Effective July 1, 2018 there will be an administrative fee of $5.00 added to each delinquent motor vehicle account. This policy was reviewed and approved by the Board of Finance.

Debit or Credit - Same Day Clearance
Personal/Business Checks - 10 Day Hold
THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
ALL BILLS PAID IN PERSON WILL BE PAID AT THE TOWN TAX OFFICE ON THE FIRST FLOOR.

FOR ALL BILLS INCLUDING THOSE WITHIN THE BOROUGH DISTRICT TAX
Mobile Home Information
Any person owning a mobile manufactured home should have filed with the Town Clerk a certificate of title, bill of sale or other document evidencing the person's ownership of the mobile manufactured home. Furthermore, any document transferring title or owner who desires to remove such home from a park or land on which it has been situated must file a removal statement for
recording with the Town Clerk
Dates to Remember
All taxes on the Grand List of October 1st of a given year are typically billed in July of the following year.
Bills are mailed once a year.
(No additional mailings will be sent for installments.)
Interest on late payments is 18% annual, calculated at 1.5% per month or any fraction of a month from the due date.
Real and Personal Property
Motor Vehicles:
No other bill will be sent for the January installment on your Real Estate and Personal Property bills. These tax bills are mailed only in June of every year, so please mark your calendars as a reminder.
ALL DELINQUENT MOTOR VEHICLE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR 2015 AND PRIOR YEARS ARE SUBJECT TO COLLECTION FEES.

How Do I Pay My Tax Bill?
The best way to make a tax payment is in person at the Town Hall. We would be happy to answer all of your questions.

Delays in mailing due to incorrect mailing information can cost you money. You can avoid delays and possible late fees and interest by simply providing your correct mail delivery address. For our motor vehicle tax bills we rely on files from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle to have the most current address. If you have not updated your address on your registration with DMV please do so ASAP.
HOW TO PAY TAXES WHEN TOWN HALL IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC POSTED ON:

Beginning March 18, 2020, The Griswold Town Hall will be closed to the public for an
undetermined amount of time. In trying to make this as easy as possible for the taxpayer,
delinquent taxes may be mailed in, PUT IN THE NEW DROPBOX ON THE SIDE OF THE
BUILDING, or paid online at www.griswold-ct.org, which there is a fee associated with this
service as follows: CREDIT CARDS/MASTERCARD DEBIT: 2.5% E-CHECKS: $2.00 and
VISA DEBIT: $3.95 (Choose this option only if the 2.5% credit transaction fee is greater than
the flat fee). This will allow you to pay the lesser fee if you run it as a credit card transaction.
If your account(s) are currently with the State Marshal, you will continue to mail your money
order, bank check or personal check to him; State Marshal Daniel Reynolds. Marshal Reynolds
can be reached at 860-208-4974. If your accounts are currently with the Town Attorney, you will
continue to contact Atty. Matthew Willis for a payoff figure and submit payment with a bank
check or money order to his office as well. Attorney Willis can be reached at 860-241-4074 or
willis@halloransage.com.
If you need an immediate clearance with the DMV, you will NEED TO CALL OR E-MAIL ME at
860-376-7060X2102 or taxcollector@griswold-ct.org so I can verify payment has been made.
I will be providing same day clearances for over the phone and online payments PAID BY DEBIT
OR CREDIT CARD ONLY. All PERSONAL CHECKS/BUSINESS CHECKS REQUIRE A 10-DAY HOLD.
